The region Königsleiten

Königsleiten is situated on a height of 1.600m at border between Salzburger Pinzau and Zillertal in Tirol. It provides a breathtaking mountain panorama. In this vivid village you will find everything for winter sports: white mountains, sunny hills, impressive landscape, perfect ski conditions and modern lifts. Königsleiten is a real ski run village. Cozy ski lodges and great mountain restaurants with sun terraces are near to the ski run. There are supermarkets in the village that are open every day. You can find everything you need to prepare a delicious meal. Or you go out for dinner in one of the many restaurants.

Nationalpark Hohe Tauern

Königsleiten is situated at the edge of one of the biggest national parks of Europe. Here lie the highest mountain in Austria: the Großglockner (3.789m), the Pasterzenkees (longest glacial of the eastern Alps) and the highest waterfalls in Europe: the Krimmler Waterfalls. The national park is a home to ca. 20.000 animal species.

Krimmler waterfalls

Visit the highest waterfalls of Europe. The first step with the upper fall has a drop hieght of 140m, followed by a flat part, the so called “Schönangerl”, from where the middle fall crashes down the second 100m high step. The third step with the lower fall is more than 14ßm high. Arrived above there is an amazing view over the valley waiting for you. You can start several hiking tours through the highlands from here.

Durlassboden reservoir

The Durlassboden reservoir is a highland lake which lies in the middle of Wildgerlos valley sarrounded by the enormour mountains of the Zillertal Apls. It reaches in a high of 1.400 m over a boulder and it is 6 km long, 2 km wide and up to 55 m deep. In autmn the cristal clear glacial water provides an impressive view in the depth of 15 to 20 m and more, ideal for diving. In spring and in summer the water temperatur is about 20°C.
